Me, Bryan Shaw
My name is Bryan Shaw and I love my family. It all started when me and my future mother-in-law worked at MCI. I was new in town and she was having a dinner party. I felt like I needed to go to this dinner party. This is where I met the girl of my dreams, my wife Hillary. We dated for a while and got married in 1998. Since then, we have had two boys born in 1997 and 2000 and I just adore them. My oldest son Michael is into music, mostly piano and is very smart. My youngest son Bryan is into sports and is pretty good. My wife Hillary is a great cook and I love her with all my heart.

We have dessert two to three times a week. During the weekdays, we don't have a consistent time to eat dessert due to everyone's busy schedules, but we do make an effort to spend at least one day a week to eat dessert as a family. When the kids come home from school, we encourage them to eat healthy foods such as fruits and sandwiches. Sundays are family days when we have a big dinner and a fancy dessert. We usually eat cakes and brownies, ice cream, and cupcakes. This past week we celebrated Thanksgiving where we ate a wide variety of desserts such as sweet potato pie, 7-Up cake, coconut cake, German chocolate cake, and brownies. Thanksgiving last week allowed us to have a wide variety of dessert which made it unique how we can get samples of different desserts. Every birthday, we have a vanilla cake with cream cheese frosting. We like Publix cake, Sams Club, Pizza Hut cinnamon sticks, Popeyes apple pie and my mother-in-law's cake. We order desserts from Pizza Hut, TGI Fridays, O'Charley's molten lava cake, McDonald's apple pie and also Popeye's apple pies. A few of our family favorites are pineapple upside-down cake, brownies, and Steak-n-Shake milkshakes. They taste great because they're all homemade except for the milkshake.

  1. Thanks for responding to Blog #1, Bryan! And thanks for sharing the story of how you met your wife--it's a great one :) My name is Allison and I'll be reading and commenting on your blogs. A couple of questions for you:

    - If you and your family have a weekday where you're all able to eat dinner together, and there's also dessert, will you typically be eating the dessert while eating the meal, or after everyone is finished with the dinner?

    - For your Thanksgiving meal, it sounds like there was a big variety of desserts to choose from--yum :) For a typical Sunday dinner, will everyone be eating the same dessert, or will there be different options for your family to choose from?

    - You listed some of your favorite desserts to order from take out places. Can you tell me a little more about WHY you and your family like to order these particular items?: (1) Pizza Hut cinnamon sticks, (2) McDonald's and Popeye's apple pies, and (3) O'Charley's molten lava cake.

    - On my end, your last sentence is cut off from the milkshake picture. Can you retype the end: "They taste great because they're all_____??"

Thank you, and thanks also for including the pictures!!

  2. Desserts are usually eaten after everyone completes their meal. We do not include the desert with the main entrée; it's served separate post meal. This gives us an additional opportunity to share and indulge in a good dessert as we expand our family time.

The majority of the time everyone will typically eat the same desserts; however, over the last couple of months the children have gravitated towards adding ice cream to whatever we may have such as cake, brownies or pies.

    1. The Pizza Hut Cinnamon sticks are very good they remind me of a funnel cake. So instead of waiting for a local fair or festival to purchase a good old funnel cake we can order the Pizza Hut cinnamon sticks and get that amazingly good taste year round.

    2. The McDonald’s and Popeye baked or fried apple pies equals double yummy. The pies have been around since I was a child; they remind me of the fried pies my grandmother use to make when I was a child. Best of all they are very affordable and have a great taste to them.

    3. O'Charley's Molten Lava Cake you can get a very expensive desert at an inexpensive price. The richness of the cake, the warm gooeyness of the chocolate coming out the middle is oh so good and delicious.

They taste great because they all have that homemade taste to them.
